After the home birth of her daughter in 1995, Jessica was inspired to become involved with the childbirth community, as an advocate for woman and family centered births. First as a Licensed Massage Therapist, specializing in prenatal massage in 1997, then as a birth doula in 1998. It was a natural transition to student midwife shortly after!
She completed a 4 year academic program and clinical internship at the Springs Area Midwifery Center. After successfully passing a 16 hour practical and written exam, administered by NARM (North American Registry of Midwives) she became a Certified Professional Midwife and received her license to practice in Colorado as a "Registered Midwife". Jessica also attended Trinity School of Natural Health, completing their PhD program in Naturopathy, in 2005.
Jessica has been attending homebirths professionally since 2001, and opened Holistic Home Birth, llc in early 2004, which means she has been practicing in Colorado Springs longer than any other midwife in the area! As of Spring 2022, she has attended nearly 1,200 births. It never gets old!
Jessica lives on the north-west side of Colorado Springs with her husband of 20+ years, Todd. They have 2 adult children, and 1 grandchild- all of whom were born at home! In her spare time, Jessica enjoys making her "Organically Born" Mother and Baby care products, restoring antique clocks with her husband, and dressing up like a Storm Trooper to do volunteer work for various children's charities
